The Middlesex County 4-H Fife & Drum Corps is primarily made up of talented teenagers. We, however, do accept recruits between the ages of 8 through 18. Beginners can choose to be a Fifer, Drummer, or Bass Drummer.

We provide free music instruction of the highest quality. The program runs year around and on a quarterly basis, we accept new recruits of all levels from beginner to experienced musicians.

Our teachers are expert fifers and drummers. They volunteer their time to ensure that Fife & Drum legacy continues in Massachusetts.

How much does it cost?

The cost is minimal and includes a small yearly membership fee and a small one time uniform fee. In addition there are several personal uniform bits that you will need to purchase. i.e. Hat, socks, and black shoes. The music lessons are provided free as explained above.

When will a new recruit be able to perform with the group?

Beginners are integrated into the performances as soon as possible by serving as color guard. As color guard they learn important marching and presentation skills necessary for a marching band. A recruit achieves performance status by demonstrating their ability to perform our 5 beginner tunes with the band and has mastered the beginning marching skills.
